Securus Technologies Hits the Mark of Excellence

Securus Technologies is a leading national provider of communications systems for correctional institutions, law enforcement agencies and safety organizations. Currently, Securus serves over 2,200 correctional facilities and over 1.2 million inmates all across North America.

Utilizing the latest and most up-to-date technologies to provide inmates and their families with the most sophisticated and easy-to-use methods of staying in touch with each other. I cannot imagine how isolated and alone an inmate must feel without any connection to the outside world, and Securus has helped to bridge the gap for families who have loved ones who are incarcerated.

There are several different types of service available which include:

  • Acvance Connect – A prepaid calling service which puts families in control of spending for the account
  • Traditional Collect Account – The calls are made collect by the inmate and the recipient pays for the call, as long as they accept the charges
  • Inmate Debit – The inmate pays for the call out of his or her personal account
  • Durect Billing – A direct bill is sent to a responsible party, which is usually the family of the inmate

One feature that I find exceptional is the video conferencing service. This service links up the family and the inmate over a video conferencing process. This saves the family the time of traveling to the facility, waiting in line for available space to spend with their loved one, and it is just like being there in person.

Another feature that is very impressive is the voice tracking mechanism that is able to identify who is speaking. This helps to thwart any possibility of using the phone service for any nefarious and criminal activity. This helps to eliminate the influx of drugs, alcohol, sex and other criminal possibilities within the prison system.
