Louis Chenevert: UTC’s Pillar of Success

Standing at an 6’5″, Canadian businessman Louis Chenevert is a force to reckon with, and a man who is envied by many owing to his high flying career. Louis who has a French Canadian origin has worked with some prominent companies, and many of these owe their success to him. He is a well-educated man and holds a bachelor in production management from the famous University of Montreal.

From the start, his career has been a journey of continuous accomplishments which is why many people look up to him. He kick-started his career at St Therese production for more than a decade where he occupied the General manager position. He later moved on to General Motors and worked for more than ten years and during his time at the company is where he encountered United Technology Corporation for the first time through Pratt & Whitney. Chenevert later went on to work at Pratt & Whitney, and after six years of showing his prowess he went up the ladder and took over the president seat of the company. His career flourished, and after seven years, Louis was elected as the Chief Executive officer and president of the entire United Technologies Corporation.

Under his leadership, the company has achieved significant milestones which prove that Louis deserved the seat. For instance, he helped UTC acquire Goodrich, a firm which many other giants businesses had tried to procure without any success. Although it took him a lot of time and a lot of money on UTC’s part, Chenevert was finally able to close the deal which would see massive financial gains for the company. Since then, UTC continues to soar high and is the number one producer of the most advanced commercial and military jets and helicopters not only in the United States but also the world at large. It has also taken over the heating, refrigeration and air conditioning market not forgetting its innovative aerospace system unit which produces top-notch flight controls, landing gear among many others.

All these and many more success stories at UTC have been achieved through Louis’s visionary leadership skills and his emphasis on maximizing the potential of the workers. The 56-year-old man understands that for a business to prosper its staff must be in a position to use their skills efficiently, and that is why during his tenure he made it his number one goal to invest in the staff. He achieved that by the introduction of the Employee scholar program which helps the workers get access to studying facilities by covering part of the cost. Today the program is still ongoing, and more than 40,000 employees have benefitted from it. Louis is indeed a leader like no other, and due to that, he has taken home many awards. He is retired right now and spends most of his time with family and sports racing. He also loves yachts and has spent a lot on them.
