Robert Ivy Is Making The Headlines

Robert Ivy is the CEO of the American Institute of Architects. He is a man who loves building and helping the community. This began in Mississippi and traveled through the rest of America and even the world in no time. Due to Robert’s influence, just about every major university now offers architectures as an art form class. Additionally, Robert helps students get the proper funds to attend the American Institute of Architects.

Robert Ivy has made such an impact in the world of architecture that he is this year’s recipient of the Noel Polk Lifetime Achievement Award. This award is handed out on an annual basis to a person that helps architecture become a true art in the community. This award is distributed by the Mississippi Institute of Arts and Letter. Though they had dozens of candidates, Robert Ivy was the candidate that stood out the most. This is especially true since he also helps non-profit organizations raise money while promoting architecture along the way. Read more about Robert Ivy at Tulane School of Architecture website.

Vice President and CEO of AIA Robert Ivy — the Recent Honoree of the Lifetime Achievement Award

Vice President and CEO of AIA Robert Ivy — the Recent Honoree of the Lifetime Achievement Award

Since June 2018, Robert Ivy is the architect industry’s first-time success of the reputable Noel Polk Lifetime Achievement Award. The Mississippi Institute for Arts and Letters (MIAL) presented Columbus’s native Robert Ivy and comrade-Mississippian Andrew Young the award. It’s not surprising Robert Ivy has set up architecture all over Mississippi and worldwide.

For several years, MIAL has given the Polk Award to Mississippians, writer Shelby Foote, actor Morgan Freeman and many others. Therefore, it is proper for Mr. Ivy to be added to the list of recipients. Robert has practiced architect over the years; he is CEO of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) from 2011. Before Robert’s leading position at AIA, he was a former editor in chief for Architectural Record at McGraw-Hill. Read his article on zdnet to learn more.

As chief editor and author, Robert Ivy led Architectural Record to become a popular worldwide journal. Thus, the architecture commentator deserved the Polk Award. Under Ivy’s leadership, AIA has a huge global footprint, and many American architects are practicing in many of the institute’s global chapters. New AIA chapters in Canada and China are taking part in the organization.

More of Ivy’s authoritative skill includes Fay Jones, which is now in its third version, after being released in 2001.

Further, Robert Ivy went to the University of the South where he received a Bachelor of Arts in English. He gained his Master of Architecture academic degree from Tulane University.

Robert’s newest passion is to train architects for their responsibility in treating today’s important issues, which is renew-ability, climate change, and the effect of architecture for the public health’s benefit. Ivy’s aim is to fulfill this by innovating the AIA resources. For instance, Robert’s signature achievements consist of reorganizing the AIA organization by manufacturing a modern digital-first technology base.

Finally, this task was an award-winning and national awareness effort — which increased decision-making.

Robert Ivy Defines The Future Impact Of Architecture

Robert Ivy, CEO of the American Institute of Architects, has a vision for the future of architecture. He believes that architecture can play a key role in helping solve many of today’s complex health challenges. Many examples of how architecture can aid a healthier lifestyle are actually self-evident. For example, using the stairs whenever possible builds a stronger skeleton-muscular system.

Moving the body increases well-being. Another example is designing buildings so that natural light is readily available. People are more alert, and the workplace perception improves. Thus, people can be more productive as a whole.
The good news is that more public health officials and architects are collaborating on what constitutes good design. As such, design can help create a toxin-free, healthy, environment that is equitable for everyone’s health.

The Seattle Children’s Hospital has implemented the “love of life” in its design. For children and visitors, the design stimulates a creative and whimsy mood. The hospital is a 330,000 square foot facility with beautiful murals that inspire children to imagine and discover.

VMDO Architects worked with Dr. Townbridge in Charlottesville, Virginia on a special project. Townbridge is an assistant professor at the University of Virginia Medial School. He is complementing the study of how to reduce obesity in children through architectural design. The goal is to combine healthy eating with physical activities. Statistics indicate that, by 2025, the number of people 65 and older with related dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease will total more than seven million people. This is an increase of 40 percent over today’s numbers.

Architectural design is taking into consideration that exposure to light can be an effective therapy for this group. Lack of proper light exposure can cause loss of sleep, behavioral changes, cognitive decline, and even depression. Robert Ivy provides the American Institute of Architects with a strong sense of vision and direction. The AIA is headquartered in Washington, DC, and operates over 260 chapters across the world.

Its concerns cover building codes, careers, communities, global practices, design matters and elements, procurement, and sustainability. Members of the AIA benefit by having access to specific knowledge, expertise, professional connections, and activities that keep them involved and at the top of their game. There are currently 90,000 members or more in the organization. The American Institute of Architect is an organization that constitutes all of the professionals working in the architectural industry in America. The organization was founded in 1857 and was established with the focus on developing and improving the sector.
